Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 28 August 2026
These Terms and Conditions, read in combination with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement relating to your use of our website. This agreement may not be amended or modified except by Kate Callaghan.
Welcome to katecallaghanauthor.com. Kate Callaghan, an author based in Ireland, operates this website. These Terms & Conditions explain the terms that apply when you use this Website or purchase books directly from me. By using this Website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Website. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights as a consumer under Irish or applicable EU law.
About me
I am an independent author and the books offered for sale through this Website are sold by me unless otherwise stated. The Website is operated by: Kate Callaghan
Ireland

Using this Website
You may use this Website for lawful purposes only. You must not: use the Website in a way that violates applicable law; attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Website or its systems; interfere with the security or operation of the Website; copy, reproduce or commercially exploit Website content without permission; or use the Website to distribute malicious software, spam or other harmful material. I reserve the right to suspend or restrict access to the Website where reasonably necessary to protect the Website, my business or other users.
Books and product information
I make reasonable efforts to ensure that descriptions, images, prices and other information about my books are accurate and up to date. However, colours and appearance may vary depending on your device or screen. Occasionally, information on the Website may contain errors or become outdated. I reserve the right to correct errors and update product information. If an error affects an order you have placed, I will contact you where appropriate and explain the available options.
Prices
All prices displayed on the Website are in euro (€) unless otherwise stated. The price applicable to your order is the price displayed at the time you place the order. Where applicable, delivery charges will be displayed before you complete your purchase. I reserve the right to change prices at any time, but a price change will not affect an order that I have already accepted.
Placing an order
When you place an order through the Website, you are making an offer to purchase the selected book or books. After you submit your order, you should receive an acknowledgement confirming that your order has been received. An order acknowledgement does not necessarily mean that your order has been accepted. Your order is accepted when I confirm acceptance of the order or otherwise confirm that the book has been dispatched, whichever occurs first. If I cannot fulfil an order, I will contact you and, where appropriate, provide a refund for any amount you have already paid.
Payment
Payments for books purchased directly through the Website are processed securely through Stripe.
Available payment methods will be displayed during checkout. I do not normally have access to or store your complete payment card details. Stripe processes payment information in accordance with its own terms and privacy policy.
Delivery
I personally pack and post some book orders. Where applicable, orders may also be fulfilled or distributed through IngramSpark or another fulfilment/distribution provider. The available delivery options, estimated delivery times and applicable delivery charges will be displayed during checkout where possible. Delivery times are estimates and may be affected by circumstances outside my reasonable control, including postal delays, customs procedures, strikes, severe weather or other disruption. If your order does not arrive within a reasonable period, please contact me at: katecallaghan@callaghanwriter.com
I will make reasonable efforts to investigate the delivery and assist you.
Delivery addresses
You are responsible for providing an accurate delivery address when placing your order. If an order cannot be delivered because an incorrect or incomplete address was supplied, please contact me as soon as possible. Where appropriate, I may be able to arrange another delivery, although additional delivery charges may apply where the failed delivery resulted from incorrect information supplied by you.
This does not affect your statutory consumer rights.
Cancelling an order
If you are a consumer purchasing online, you may have a statutory right under Irish and EU consumer law to cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods, subject to applicable exceptions. Where the cancellation right applies, you do not generally need to give a reason for cancelling. To exercise your cancellation right, contact me at: katecallaghan@callaghanwriter.com
Please include your name, order details and a clear statement that you wish to cancel your order.
If you cancel your order in accordance with your statutory rights, I will provide a refund as required by applicable law. You may be responsible for the direct cost of returning goods where the law permits this.
Returns and refunds
If you change your mind about a purchase, your statutory cancellation rights described above may apply. Books that are defective, damaged or not as described are covered by your statutory consumer rights. If you receive a book that is damaged or defective, please contact me at: katecallaghan@callaghanwriter.com
Please provide your order details and, where helpful, photographs showing the damage or defect. Depending on the circumstances and your legal rights, I may offer a replacement, repair, refund or another appropriate remedy. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits or excludes any statutory consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Damaged books
If your book arrives damaged, please contact me as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
I may ask for photographs of the packaging and book so that I can investigate the problem with the postal or fulfilment provider. I will deal with damaged or defective goods in accordance with your statutory rights.
Third-party book retailers
My Website contains links to third-party retailers, including Amazon and other book retailers.
These links allow you to purchase my books directly from those retailers rather than from me.
When you purchase from a third-party retailer, your contract for that purchase is with the relevant retailer, not with me. The retailer's own terms, conditions, delivery arrangements, refund policies and privacy policy will apply to that purchase. I am not responsible for the operation, availability, policies or practices of third-party websites.
Affiliate links
Some links on this Website may be affiliate links. This means that I may receive a commission if you click an affiliate link and subsequently make a qualifying purchase from the relevant retailer.
The price you pay is not increased because I use an affiliate link. Where appropriate, affiliate relationships will be disclosed on the relevant pages or alongside the relevant links.
Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the content of this Website is owned by or licensed to Kate Callaghan.
This includes, where applicable: text; book descriptions; photographs; graphics; logos; original artwork; articles; blog posts; downloadable materials; and other original content. You may view and use the Website for your personal, non-commercial purposes. You must not reproduce, distribute, modify, publish, sell or commercially exploit Website content without my prior written permission, except where permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects any rights you may have under applicable copyright law.
Links to other websites
The Website may contain links to websites operated by third parties. These links are provided for convenience and information. I do not control third-party websites and am not responsible for their content, availability, security, privacy practices, terms or services. You should review the terms and privacy policy of any third-party website you visit.
Website availability
I aim to keep the Website available and functioning properly, but I cannot guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. The Website may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical problems, updates or circumstances outside my reasonable control.
Events outside my control
I will not be responsible for delays or failures caused by circumstances outside my reasonable control.
These may include: postal or delivery disruption, strikes; severe weather; natural disasters; technical failures; internet or telecommunications problems; illness or other circumstances affecting fulfilment; supply or printing problems, government restrictions, or other events beyond my reasonable control.
Where such an event affects an order, I will take reasonable steps to keep you informed and minimise the impact. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.
In particular, nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits your statutory consumer rights or any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited. Subject to the above, I will not be responsible for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable or that arise from circumstances outside my reasonable control.
Privacy
Personal information provided through the Website is handled in accordance with my Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains what information I collect, why I collect it, how I use it and your data protection rights.
Cookies
The Website uses cookies and similar technologies.
Changes to these Terms & Conditions
I may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The version published on the Website at the time of your purchase will generally apply to that purchase. The date at the top of this page shows when the Terms & Conditions were last updated.
Governing law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Ireland. If you are a consumer living in another country, you may also have mandatory consumer protection rights under the laws of your country of residence. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to remove or restrict rights that cannot legally be excluded.
Contact
If you have a question about an order, delivery, return, refund or these Terms & Conditions, please contact Kate Callaghan. I will do my best to resolve any issue promptly and fairly.
